Non-Native Invasive Plant Management Workshop

The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy is looking for volunteers, age 18+, to join GVC for our second Non-native Invasive (NNI) Plant Management workshop, a great part of our NNI Program! It’s easy to participate:

• Attend an in field training and ID session to learn the basics of the NNI problem and plant ID and physical management methods
• Practice what you’ve learned with your classmates in an instructor-led field experience immediately following the training
• Sign up to lead your own volunteer-powered NNI removal events with support from GVC

EVENT DETAILS

Date: Saturday, December 10, 2022 10am-1pm)

Meeting Location: Catholic Community of St. Francis Xavier- 13717 Cuba Road Cockeysville MD, 20130.  Look for GVC event signs and a sign in table. We will be parking and meeting in the first parking lot to the left when you come up the church entrance drive. The site we will be working on is a short walk from the parking lot down into a GVC tree planting section.

What to wear: Think PROTECTION—long pants, long sleeves, close-toed shoes, hat, sunscreen for any uncovered parts, and insect repellant that is effective against ticks. Please note that some of the areas we will be working in may be wet so wear appropriate shoes.

What to bring: Pen, notepad, filled water bottle, a light snack. We will provide gloves and NNI removal tools, but if you have some favorites in your own collection feel free to bring them.
