Gifts of Stock
Donating appreciated stock is one of the easiest ways to make a bigger gift than you might think possible — and often a smarter one. When you give stock that you have held for more than a year directly to Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, you may be able to avoid the capital gains tax you would owe if you sold it, while still claiming a charitable deduction for its full fair market value. That means more of your investment goes toward cleaning streams, restoring forests, and preserving lands across the watershed, and less goes to taxes. The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy is a 501 c3 nonprofit organization and your donation is tax-deductible. No goods or services will be provided in exchange for your gift, therefore, the entire amount may be considered a charitable contribution.
