Nick Rodricks grew up in Baltimore City but spent a great deal of his childhood in and around the Gunpowder watershed. An avid fly fisherman from a young age, Nick learned to cast a fly on the Gunpowder River by the time he was 10. A graduate of Connecticut College and The Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, Nick’s work has always been environmentally focused. Since 2021 Nick has worked for Baltimore County’s Bureau of Solid Waste, taking over as Bureau Chief in 2022. Currently Nick oversees all Solid Waste programming for the county, from curbside collection and landfill operations to recycling and compost. Nick was drawn to Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC) for their commitment to creating and preserving accessible green spaces around the rivers and streams he grew up in. Providing access to the outdoors has always been a priority and Nick admires GVC’s commitment to that mission.
