Land Preservation Monitor training

November 2, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Help preserve land and wildlife habitat in the Gunpowder Watershed for future generations

Did you know that the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC) has facilitated the preservation of 1800+ acres within the Gunpowder Watershed? We are actively seeking new volunteers to train as Land Preservation Monitors who play an important role in the process.

When a landowner decides to preserve their land, they enter a voluntary legal agreement (conservation easement) that protects the property’s agricultural and/or natural features for future generations. Each year, GVC is required to monitor all such conservation easements to ensure the easement’s terms are being upheld. Monitoring also provides an opportunity, if desired, for GVC representatives to meet with landowner(s) to discuss any recent observations or concerns (e.g. erosion, non-native invasive plants).
