Adopt-a-Stream workshop

Make a difference for future generations by helping to restore our heritage of clean, safe water.
The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC) is looking for volunteers, age 18+, to join our Adopt-a-Stream Program. It’s easy to participate:
- Attend this training
- Agree to clean your adopted stream segment
- Send us your trash data
- Watch for and report stream hazards

It’s that simple! Adopt-a-Stream is great for individuals, families, neighborhoods, scout groups, faith institutions or school groups. We can help you find a stream segment or you may have one in mind in the Gunpowder Watershed.
In the workshop, you will learn about the threats to the health of the Gunpowder Watershed and how to help protect and improve our local creeks and rivers. Topics include:
- How to safely remove trash from waterways and adjacent land
- How to properly identify problems (e.g. sewer breaks, illicit discharges)
- Who to contact when you observe a stream hazard
