Explore the Gunpowder Hike

Earn your Explorer Sticker while enjoying a leisurely walk with our staff and board members!

We are excited to offer a unique way to earn your Explorer Sticker for the Explore the Gunpowder Challenge. Our former Executive Director, Lou Etgen, is leading an early morning hike along the Sweathouse trail in Gunpowder Falls State Park. We look forward to enjoying one of the most beautiful parts of the Gunpowder Watershed together with you!

We will meet in the main parking lot for the Gunpowder Falls State Park – Sweathouse/Lost Pond area on Belair Road in Kingsville. If you are heading north from Perry Hall on Belair Road, you will past the intersection with Honeygo Blvd. The parking lot is on your right as soon as you cross over the Big Gunpowder Falls. Another landmark is the restaurant, Gunpowder Lodge, on the opposite side of the road.

Dress appropriately for a hike with layers, sturdy shoes, and accessories (hat, sunscreen, bug spray). Please bring your own water bottle to stay hydrated!
