Non-native Invasive Plant Management workshop
June 25 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy is looking for volunteers, age 18+, to kick off our NEW Non-native Invasive (NNI) Plant Management program. It’s easy to participate:
- Attend a 1-hour classroom training to learn the basics of the NNI problem and plant ID and physical management methods
- Practice what you’ve learned with your classmates in an instructor-led field experience immediately following the training
- Sign up to lead your own volunteer-powered NNI removal events with support from GVC
Date: Saturday, June 18, 2022 (9 am – 1 pm)
Meeting Location: St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 12022 Jerusalem Road, Kingsville, MD 21087. After the classroom portion of the training we will drive a short distance up the road to Jerusalem Mill and walk to the site from the parking lot (5-10 min walk). Directions to the field site will be given at the training; we encourage carpooling for those who are comfortable doing so.
What to wear: Think PROTECTION—long pants, long sleeves, close-toed shoes, hat, sunscreen for any uncovered parts, and insect repellant that is effective against ticks.
What to bring: Pen, notepad, filled water bottle, snack. We will provide gloves and NNI removal tools, but if you have some favorites in your own collection feel free to bring them.
