Matthew first discovered Gunpowder Valley Conservancy while attending the Community College of Baltimore County – Essex. He enjoyed the opportunity to spend more time outside and connect with the community that he continued to volunteer while finishing his associates degree. Matthew received our 2016 Volunteer of the Year award and worked as a Reforestation Program Assistant for several years. This was in addition to working at local farms and small-scale commercial landscaping companies. In 2020, Matthews moved to the mountains of Ashe County, North Carolina for a change of scenery and to try out different careers and experiences. He is thrilled to get back to his environmental career in Baltimore County. When not working, Matthew rotates through a wide variety of hobbies such as hiking, tennis, golf, video editing, drawing, piano, and learning about history and culture.
