Rain Barrel workshop
June 10 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Save water, save money, and save our local waterways!
Rain barrels help reduce pollution to our local creeks and streams. The water collected in rain barrels can be used to irrigate lawns and gardens, wash cars, or simply infiltrate back into the ground during drier periods. Join the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC) for a FREE workshop to learn more about rain barrel benefits as well as proper assembly and maintenance. This workshop is geared towards home owners, businesses, and/or faith-based organizations interested in conserving water while also reducing stormwater runoff from their property.

GVC will be selling 55 gallon blue rain barrels in advance of the workshop. Please make sure to submit your order when registering for the workshop. Our rain barrels are repurposed, food-grade barrels donated by McCormick.
Regular cost is $70/barrel. If your property is within the GVC’s Clear Creeks Project area, you are eligible to receive a 50% discount of $35/barrel as well as installation free of labor. This area includes Hunt Valley, Timonium, Nottingham, White Marsh, and Middle River. GVC staff will confirm if your address qualifies for the discount.
When: Saturday, June 10, 2023 from 10:30 am – 12 pm
Where: Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2504 Cub Hill Road, Parkville, MD 21234. Look for GVC event signs. The workshop will be held outside in their courtyard or, if raining, in the gym.
This workshop is part of the Clear Creeks Project. Coordinated by the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC), the Clear Creeks Project is a grant-funded, citizen-based initiative that helps answer a community desire to restore the water quality within the Gunpowder Watershed. Additional funding provided by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation; Chesapeake Bay Trust; Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability; Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund, administered by Maryland Department of Natural Resources; and BGE.
